A Box Full of Promise

This came in the mail this week.

Big bax

It's 47 pounds of organic merino sock yarn, and represents all the yarn my students will be using in the classes I'm teaching this summer.

Normally my process of preparing for a class involves running around like a crazy person a day or two before the class and buying yarn at my local yarn shop to dye. Past years have seen me drying yarn in the hotel bathroom with a blowdryer, or using the shoe-dryer attachment of my washing machine.

This year, I decided to get my act together. (I am forty now, after all.) So I placed an order with Henry's Attic, where I have a wholesale account.

The UPS driver didn't believe it could be yarn, because it was too heavy.

I didn't think the box seemed big enough to hold a whole season's worth of yarn. But like a Tardis, it seems to be bigger on the inside. (Adorable child added for scale.)

Have fun at John C. Cambell in June! I just finshed warping on black and hand painted tencel to make some bookmarks (yarn from one of your kits). I have the heddles threaded for the pinwheel pattern... :^)

Yarn shipments

When a yarn shipment arrives at my house, it's better than Christmas. I'm so glad you opened the box and included the photo. My curiosity was strong.

A tardis worth of yarn

Like your UPS driver, when we moved from California to Iowa, my son and husband couldn't believe those boxes all contained yarn. How is it something so soft and light can weigh so much?! What fun you have in store -- your lucky students even more so!

Yarn is not light and fluffy

Had to laugh at the (I think) Ford commercials last year that touted their new pickup truck for heavy hauling and stipulated that you wouldn't need it if you were only hauling yarn.....obviously the ad writers have never hefted a 50 pound box of it. :^)

I have found a lot of useful information from this platform. I must say that sharing your thoughts with one another is an easy way to relax yourself in the daily hectic routines. Each time a description of the change, there are always lots of talk about it anywhere. These are not exempt. I mean one must be up to date with the day to day change in the environment and in the technology as well. In my personal opinion, the world is turning into a global village and now you can get a lot of required information by just a click while sitting where ever you are.
