Can't make it but.....

Hey Syne,

Wishing you a very happy birthday.  I'll be sending out to you some of my very favorite handspun yarn: content and color.  Have a great time with your blanket and your birthday, and weave some Ann Arbor into it for me!!!!!  Your project is truly inspired.  Survive the next decade -- and set your sites for the 50's.  Somehow all you learn all your life suddenly makes sense, and it all comes together when you hit the big 5-0.  What will your project be then???!!!

Thank you for enriching my life with WeaveZine!

I will try to make the beginning

My 3 year old has been invited to a birthday party that same afternoon, so it will depend a bit on kid wrangling, but I will try to get there at the beginning and hand off some yarn if nothing else. If I'd had the sense to read this before Madrona I'd have given you some then!

Awesome Idea

Hi Syne:

What a fabulous idea. We will not be in town, but we'll definitely drop off some material for the blankets.

And remember: the 20s are for playing, the 30s are for learning, and the 40s are for DOING.

Birthday Party

I'd love to be there in person, but that won't happen. Love your idea and would like to be a part.  I'll happily send my share of yarn, and enjoy the photos.  A beautiful idea, wishing you a beautiful year.

Happy Birthday

What a wonderful way to celebrate and do good at the same time. Have lots of fun and enjoy the richness of the 40's! Lynn Heglar

40th Birthday Party

Syne,  I wish I lived closer or wasn't busy in Arizona that day.  I would love to send some handspun yarn that represents my love of fiber and new-found ability to spin and weave it.

Birthday party -- cool!

Nice to know about the alpaca -- I will bring something natural and hypo-allergenic....any issue with tussah being part of the warp?  I am learning to weave next week.  Julie

Tussah

Tussah is my favorite flavor of silk, and would be very welcome.  :>

Wooly good time

Sounds like a blast! I don't know anything about weaving, but as a n00Bie knitter I'm game to try. :)

Yarn for birthday blanket for MDs w/o borders

Dear Syne, I'll spin up something lucious...but not alpaca...'cause I know that it makes you itch. Love, Selah

Party Details

I'll be turning 40 this year, and have decided to celebrate with a party at my local yarn store, Weaving Works!  We'll be eating cake and biscotti, sharing stories, and winding the warp for a blanket project that will benefit Doctors Without Borders.  If you're in the Seattle area, I'd love to have you come join us.  No prior weaving experience necessary.

Suggested Gift: 40 yards of a yarn that represents you.  (Natural fibers such as wool and silk preferred, and hand-spun would be absolutely treasured.)  This will become part of the blanket project.

Time and Date: February 21st, 11am-2pm

Location: Weaving Works

4717 Brooklyn Avenue Northeast
Seattle, WA 98105-4410
(206) 524-1221

If you have questions about the event, please read the blog post on this event (forthcoming), or leave a comment here.

Thanks!
