Fall 2008 Cover Art

This model is Taryn Clark.  I found her through a posting on Craigslist.  In addition to being a talented and experienced model, her family owns an alpaca farm.  I thought, how great is that?  I imagined baby alpacas on the cover.  And although the crias were adorable, they did not pose well and kept trying to eat the textiles.

Inkle looms are a much better prop, it turns out.  That gorgeous loom in the picture?  Part of a limited edition produced by Robyn Spady.  She no longer makes them, alas, and you can't have mine.  (I did get queries.)

For this shot, I asked Taryn to give me a "Come on, don't you want to weave?" look, which she totally nailed.
