Weaver, writer, and all-around curious person

I'm in the latest Anticraft!

Whoo-hoo!  I just found out that my weaving project made it into the latest issue of The Anticraft!

If you're not already familiar with the site, The Anticraft is a gothic/punk/alternative crafting site edited by Zabet Stewart, a talented graphic designer with a great sense of humor. I am thrilled that she is open to "weaverly" submissions.

The Anticraft websiteThe project is a transparency, which can be woven on a rigid-heddle loom (plain weave) or a four-shaft loom (twill.) In the article, the step-by-step photos show a rigid-heddle loom.

It's called "Argh, I'm Working!" The inspiration was a real-world problem around here at casa WeaveZine, and it fixed it admirably.  (I'd tell you more, but I'm hoping you'll go read it...)

There's also a really neat article in the same issue about dyeing a lace shawl to make it look like dragon scales.

P.S. A big thanks to Bobbie Irwin for getting me over my "fear of transparency" at Convergence!

One more thing, if you view

One more thing, if you view some of the older posts towards Halloween, Kai will also be able to see our other dog Larka. Plus a 'must see' is Skippy in her Halloween Costume! Very silly indeed!

Hello Syne, Just wanted to

Hello Syne, Just wanted to stop by to say Hello. All three sites you gave me to look at are extremely impressive. The ornaments you make are beautiful and the projects you make with your loom are spectacular. I couldn't believe my eyes when I viewed the assembly pictures of your new loom - "Some Assembly Required..." Have a wonderful weekend. See you at MVM. Joan (Hello to Kai - p.s. if you have time, please show Kai some of the pics of my Pug - Skippy at my blog: ***peaceloveandpugs***AT***blogspot-dot-com***, we were talking about her one day and I mentioned how she wears silly coats and such!)

AAARGH!! the college won't let me visit anticraft.com, cos they say it's "explicit art" curses on their lanlubbery necks, or something to that effect! arr

Excellent! It inspires me to

Excellent! It inspires me to get on with my writing and at the same time lets you know that by reading your article, I am procrastinating. Your pictures and diagrams were very clear and your general cleverness always delights.
