Tip of the Day
I like to use a walking tie-up when I weave so I can alternate right and left feet. To help me remember where I am in a sequence I think of the weft shots as pairs and and if there are several repeats in a pattern I give different numbers to each set. For example if the treadling order is: 1-6-2-7-3-8-4-9;1-6-2-7-3-8-4-9;4-8-3-7-2-6-during the first set I will think: 1-6; 2-7; 3-8; 4-9; but on the next set I will think of them as 16, 27, 38, 49 (when I get to 49 I know I have done the sequence twice and now it is time to reverse the order).
